Who's that girl?

I’m Talia, a millennial entrepreneur who’s passionate about telling stories that matter, spotlighting brilliant Black women with powerful voices, and finding balance in the struggle to do it all.  

What exactly does “doing it all” mean for me? Well...

I make magic out of words through my boutique agency, Word Count Creative, where I help business owners, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders dress up their bold visions, unique perspectives, and brand messages with beautifully crafted, high-impact content that makes people pay attention. Think of my team and I like red lipstick and high heels for other people’s ideas.

I also dabble in literal lipstick and heels. Not only am I a makeup junkie with a serious shoe habit, I’m also the co-founder of The Beauty Concierge. My business partner and I created this marketplace, directory, and blog to connect beauties of colour with the POC beauty and fashion brands that that cater to their needs and celebrate their cultures.

I’m pretty much what you’d get if Marie Forleo and Moj Mahdara had a lovechild and chose Beyonce (in all her glorious Virgo perfectionism) to be godmother.

The businesses I’ve built are all about helping others present their best selves to the world, and I’m extremely proud of them. But if my experience in entrepreneurship has taught me anything, it’s that the raw and rough-edged stories and truths under the polish are what matter most.

So, this is where I’ll take you behind-the-scenes of my highlight reel as I write about the lessons I learn along my entrepreneurial journey, share my journey to finding wellness and self-care in a 24/7 career, introduce you to my favourite Black women storytellers, all delivered with a healthy serving of island girl sass and corny humour.
